SUBICSHA is an innovative special project approved by Govt. of India on 10th March,2003 in Kozhikode district with a total cost of Rs. 1401 Lakhs under ‘Swarna Jayanthi Gram Swaroasgar Yojana (SGSY), a centrally Poverty alleviation programme inline with the forgoing statements.

The project implemented in Perambra Block panchayat with DRDA as nodal agency envisages sustainable social and economic development of Perambra Block Panchayat through 700 micro enterprises based on 41 value added coconut products, effectively managed by 7000 BPL women spread over 7 Grama Panchayat of Block area, organized into SHGs for a period of 3 years, providing a wide range of hand holding escort services in areas such as technology, skill upgradation, training, quality control, brand building common production facilities, supply and marketing support services.

 
 
 
 
 
OBJECTIVES
To create micro economic enterprises utilizing bank credit and Govt.subsidy by 700 women SHGs that contribute to the various activities in an integrated coconut based supply chain.
To eradicate poverty of over 7000 BPL families during the project period of 3 years by raising annual net income to sustainable level of Rs. 25,000.
To create an exclusive brand for the product and services through the project beneficiary SHGs by maintaining highest levels of quality consistency.
Generating employment opportunities for over 7000BPL women members of SHGs by creating over 2.1 million man days of employment every year.
To create quality assurance infrastructure for ensuring the products and services rendered through the project meet the highest levels of quality standard.
To empower the SHGs to the challenging task of managing an enterprise, demonstrating the scope of rural enterprises on a sustainable basis and to develop Perambra as a model Block Panchayat of India and for other less developed 3rd world nations.
Realizing the dream of women and village empowerment by providing inputs.
   
STRATEGY
The three tier development strategy adopted in the projects is specified below.
Establishment of micro enterprises for production of varieties of coconut based value added products.
Establishment of units supporting the production enterprises to work as an integrated supply chain which includes:
Procurement support
Infrastructure Management
Marketing Support
Quality Management


Integrated mechanism for monitoring the chain of activities.
   
SALIENT FEATURES
There is a provision of engaging Resource Counselors involved in the capacity building process of 700 women SHGs by working as a promoter, facilitator, motivator, master trainer along with assisting the groups in proper management of micro enterprises.
Quality control and common brand name for all SUBICSHA products.
Common production cluster centers and other infrastructure such as copra dryers,oil expellers, defibering machinery, storage and packaging facilities in all the Gram Panchayats.
Integrated mechanism for monitoring the chain of activities.
1 7000 women will be getting self employment for around 300 days in a year creating employment to the tune of 21 lakhs man days annually.
2 Technology transfer and technical and managerial consultancy by National level R&D Institutions like IIM, CFTRI, CPCRI, Coir Board, Coconut devlopement Board, KAU etc.

Annual turn over of Rs.43.75 crores through Micro enterprises with annual net sale rvenue of Rs. 16.68 crores expecting a per family income of Rs. 25140 per annum
